Perhaps you could:

 

 

Inform your congregation of the 1700th anniversary

 

Recite the Nicene Creed together to affirm your faith as one or have it read to the people 

 

Pray to thank God for His faithfulness to His people in every generation (Psalm 100 v 5, Psalm 119 v 90, Psalm 145 v 13)

 

Pray to thank God for faithful Christians in the past, including those at Nicaea, and ask for His Spirit and help for Christians now to be faithful in our own day (Philippians 1 v 3, Matthew 25 v 21)

 

Pray for all Christians, giving special consideration to Jesus’ prayer for all His people in the Upper Room (John 17 v 20 - 24)

 

Read a short account of the Council of Nicaea in 325AD (use the one below or write your own)

 

Share the message with children and young people using the materials provided below, or create your own

 

Theme the 'children's address' section of your service on the Creed (you could take inspiration from the children's resources below)

 

Reflect on some statements from the Nicene Creed in the sermon/homily

 

Sing a hymn or worship song which takes inspiration from this Creed or the Apostle's Creed, for example:

'This is Our God' (Sovereign Grace Music, 2015)

'This I Believe - The Creed' (Hillsong, 2014)

'We Believe' (Graham Kendrick, 1986)

'We believe in God Almighty' (David Mowbray, 1977)

'O Come, All ye Faithful' (traditional) - It may be out of season, but notice verse 2!
